Midsummer Night's Dream

Posted on Jun 28th, 2007 by kathleen : "there's no place like home" kathleen
Now is the high-tide of the year.
And whatever of life hath ebbed away
Comes flooding back with ripply cheer
Now the heart is so full that a drop overfills it,
We are happy now, because God wills it.

What can i do?

Posted on Apr 18th, 2007 by kathleen : "there's no place like home" kathleen
I just finished reading a story about the the professor who bravely saved several lives by holding the door shut and allowing the students to climb out the window to safety. And then I cried. Shortly after I read a brief story about 184 people who were blown up in Iraq today.
What can I do?
I pray for them and hope that comfort and love comes quickly.
I will refuse to buy  a gun.
I forgive my own personal offenses and injustices.
I ask the angels to guide and shoulder their suffering.
I wonder when or how we as a people will refuse to accept violence as an acceptable alternative to our problems.
I hold them in my minds heart and gently whisper that all is well.
I will continue to communicate with non-violent words and actions.

No good in bed

I had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: "No good in a bed, but fine up against a wall." -Eleanor Roosevelt

The federal Dog and Cat Fur Prohibition Enforcement Act, H.R. 891

Posted on Apr 10th, 2007 by kathleen : "there's no place like home" kathleen

The federal Dog and Cat Fur Prohibition Enforcement Act, H.R. 891, would require that all apparel containing any quantity of fur is accurately labeled-regardless of the fur's monetary value-and also ban completely the sale and import of fur from raccoon dogs, members of the dog family native to China killed in large numbers for their fur.

Under current law, products containing quantities of fur valued under $150 can be sold in American stores without accurate labels. Consumers with ethical objections or allergies to fur may think a lack of a label means that they're buying "faux" fur-but sadly, this is not always true.

What You Can Do
Please visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center today, where you can email a letter to your representative urging him or her support and cosponsor the Dog and Cat Fur Prohibition Enforcement Act. You'll also find additional information about how this Act will change current labeling laws for the better.

Thank you for supporting the ASPCA.

Guess your age

Posted on Apr 3rd, 2007 by kathleen : "there's no place like home" kathleen
One day at the rest home, an old man and woman are talking. Out of nowhere the woman says, "I can guess your age."

The man doesn't believe her, but tells her to go ahead and try.

"Pull down your pants," she says.

He doesn't understand but does it anyway. She inspects his rear end for a few minutes and then says, "You're 84 years old."

"That's amazing," the man says. "How did you know?"

"You told me yesterday."

Row, Row, Row your boat.
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily.
Life is but a dream.
